At 9 a.m. on June 3, Professor Yang Zhiyong and Professor Zhu Qian from the Department of Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Surgery of Central South Hospital of Wuhan University cooperated with the First People’s Hospital of Xiaogan City to successfully hold a new live broadcast of the operation -3D laparoscopic pancreatoduodenectomy. Ms. Wu, 66 years old, was diagnosed as a pancreatic tumor in the First People’s Hospital of Xiaogan City due to "yellow staining of the skin and sclera" and needed surgery urgently. At the sincere invitation of the First People’s Hospital of Xiaogan City, Professor Yang Zhiyong and Professor Zhu Qian from the Department of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery of Wuhan Central South Hospital and experts from the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery of Xiaogan First People’s Hospital jointly prepared for Ms. Wu’s 3D laparoscopic pancreatoduodenectomy.

The live broadcast of the operation was held in Xiaogan first people’s Hospital at 9 a.m. on June 3, 2023. Before the live broadcast, yangpengming, Secretary of the Party committee of Xiaogan first people’s Hospital, delivered a welcome speech, and Professor Yang Zhiyong of Wuhan Zhongnan Hospital introduced the members of the operation team and the operation plan in detail, and showed the required environment and equipment to the experts at the venue.

 

Subsequently, the live broadcast of the operation officially started. Under the rigorous and meticulous operation of the chief surgeon Professor Yang Zhiyong, his team of professors and the expert team of Xiaogan first people’s Hospital United sincerely and successfully implemented 3D laparoscopic pancreatoduodenectomy. In addition, during the whole operation process, the medical staff always paid close attention to Ms. Wu’s vital signs and the progress of the operation to ensure the safe and smooth operation. The whole operation took nearly 5 hours, the intraoperative blood loss was only 300ml, the patient’s vital signs were stable, and he was successfully sent to ICU for monitoring and treatment after operation.

 

This kind of pancreatoduodenectomy is one of the most challenging operations in abdominal surgery, known as the "Everest" of abdominal surgery, and laparoscopic completion is a great challenge to the technical level of surgeons. Yangpengming said after the operation, "we have successfully performed the most complex surgery with minimally invasive technology.
